Biography

I began dancing aged 3 at the Jacqui Philpott School of Dance where I took Royal Academy of Dance Examinations (Pre-Primary to Grade 8). I attended ballet and tap lessons and performed in her annual dancing display every year.

Through the Jacqui Philpott School of Dance I had many opportunities to dance on stage and on television including:

BBC - Wendy's Open House

BBC - Children in Need

Christmas Pantomime - Aladdin (Lamon House Hotel) - I was originally to be in Babes In The Wood at the Grand Opera House, it was cancelled due to a bomb prior to Christmas. The cast which included May McFetridge, Tom O'Connor, Candy Devine and John Hewitt decided the show must go and organised Aladdin at Lamon Hotel instead.

The 75th Anniversary of the Royal Academy of Dance - Grand Opera House, Belfast.

The Wind In The Willows - Performances in the Arts Theatre and Belfast's Waterfront Hall

Royal British Legion Rememberance Celebrations - The Ulster Hall and Belfast's Waterfront

Hall.

Over many years I took part in the annual Portadown Dance Festival and won certificates, medals and cups in various disciplines, I also achieved the highest mark overall in the Character National Section.

In September 2012 some pupils from the Julie Dorman School of Dance had to the opportunity to perform in Angelina Ballerina The Mousical in the Grand Opera House in Belfast. They took part in two performances and had great fun meeting and dancing with the cast.

On the 28th May 2013 a group of 44 dancers performed in Belfast's Wateront Hall in 'An Evening with the Stars of Strictly Come Dancing'. The dancers performed two routines on stage as part of this show with Pasha Kovalev and Katya Virshilas.

As part of Culture Night Belfast with Bank of Ireland Julie taught the Guinness World Records Largest Tap Lesson.

It took place on Friday 21st September 2018 in Belfast's Europa Hotel. Julie had to teach a 30 minute tap dance lesson and a 3 minute routine which she had choreographed to the participants. In total 445 participants officially were counted. It was an amazing evening which was live streamed on Cool FM and by Bank of Ireland.
